I Just Did Another Radio Interview About Movies Over At Ave Maria Radio
...which is great, because I can’t seem to find the time to write about them any more. Don’t worry, though; I'll return to the FFFEYIBA Project soon. I promise!
Deal Hudson welcomed me back aboard his “Church and Culture” show last week, to continue the conversation about great spiritual films that we began earlier this month.
He talked about Wise Blood, 3 Godfathers, and Au hasard Balthazar. I talked about The Seventh Seal, Le Fils, and Ushpizin. Great films, all. And there’s plenty more where they came from, I promise!
I meant to reference Satoshi Kon’s Tokyo Godfathers during Deal’s segment on John Ford’s Godfathers film, but I got distracted. The hour always zips past, and I was nervous that I’d run out of time to talk about Ushpizin (much like I did in the first hour, when I had about 14 seconds to talk about Offret—a nearly impossible task even with fourteen hours, if I’m being honest).
My biggest takeaway from this experience, though? It’s exactly the same takeaway I have every time I do a radio interview.
My voice is really high.
The conversation helped me understand and better appreciate the one movie I have seen (Wise Blood) and likely has prepared me to enjoy the five I haven’t seen yet. Thanks!
